Learn More About The Kepler's 2020 Project.Kepler's Books has been operating in Menlo Park since 1955 and is a cherished spot for authors, readers, and anyone dedicated to a life of the mind. Upon the recent retirement of Clark Kepler, a group of people committed to the bookstore's place in the community came together to start the process of imagining what the future of Kepler's will look like. We are developing a structure that combines a nonprofit dedicated to a deep roster of author events, lectures, and literary gatherings with a community-owned bookstore that preserves the physical space where people browse, discover, and enjoy books. We feel this vision will secure the long-term future of Kepler’s while providing even more of what people value and love.
As we developed these ideas we came to realize that Kepler's isn't the only well-loved bookstore in the country that is facing a need for transformation. We hope this effort can serve as a template for other booksellers looking to do something similar. |
